The journey of TBT group
The roots of Tyrrell Building Technologies Group can be traced back to 1997, stemming from its original focus on energy controls and automation within Tyrrell Systems. Over the years, our group’s business units have expanded, with the addition of Tyrrell Products, a cutting-edge software and hardware manufacturing and distribution entity. These units have experienced steady growth, attracting a growing clientele for our engineering team and forging new partnerships for Tyrrell Products.
Our CEO, Ged Tyrrell, embarked on his journey in the industry as an apprentice for a leading Building Management Systems and Controls firm in 1987. With an inherent drive for success and a strong technical acumen, Ged’s relentless pursuit of excellence is evident. Continuously seeking self-improvement, Ged actively engages with external coaches and invests in personal development to address any areas of weakness, particularly in strategic sales and management accounts.
Drawing from his experiences in the controls and BMS industry, Ged recognised the transformative potential of technology in the early 90s, particularly in facilitating the connectivity of disparate systems within buildings. Leading a dedicated team in his previous role, Ged spearheaded projects that showcased the future trajectory of the industry. With a modest initial investment of £6K, Ged founded Tyrrell Systems Ltd in 1997, guided by a clear vision of the evolving landscape of modern buildings and their operational dynamics.
Driven by insight, determination, and a commitment to innovation, Ged has steered the evolution of Tyrrell Building Technologies Group into a diversified portfolio of companies. Through strategic private investments, we have expanded our presence and capabilities, firmly establishing ourselves as pioneers in shaping the future of building technology.
